South Africa – Two Views of the Real Estate Market
“The Economist” magazine recently named the South Africa real estate market as the world’s best-performing housing market in the longer term. The magazine maintains a global house price index, and that shows a cumulative 418% rise in South Africa real estate prices over the last 12 years (2007-2009). The magazine tracks 20 other housing markets, and none have shown that level of performance.

Buy to Let Property Market Beginning to Recover
For buy to let property investors in the UK, the third quarter of 2009 may come to mark an important turning point in a market that has been badly hurt by a slump in property prices and the freezing of residential mortgage markets. According to data compiled by Britain’s Council of Mortgage Lenders, the volume of buy to let mortgages increased for the first time in that quarter since the end of 2007.
